Disciplinary Hypergraph
Dataset generated from participant answers to ‘What disciplines better represent your research activity or interests?’. Sphere volume is proportional to the number of instances participants selected each discipline. Each datapoint is a shape (hyperlink) connecting some collection of disciplines. Shade intensity and opacity is proportional to the number of datapoints in that region of the diagram. Instructions: Single-click on the graphic to bring up the orange frame. Click and drag on the orange edges to make it larger and clearer to read (try to fit the size of the frame for optimal viewing). Click and drag on the graphic to rotate it, holding shift to pan and holding ctrl/⌘ to zoom. The graphic may take a couple of seconds to render sometimes. Binary Interdisciplinarity
A binary reduction of the Disciplinary Hypergraph: all hyperlinks of order 3 and greater are decomposed into their binary components. Sector lengths are proportional to the number of instances participants selected each discipline. Chord widths are proportional to the number of instances that pair of disciplines occurs in the entire dataset, hovering over them with the mouse shows exact counts.
